Internal Complaint Committee (I.C.C.) 2019-20

K V G Polytechnic is committed to provide a safe environment to all students and its women employees. As per the guidelines of the supreme court and AICTE guidelines , sexual harassment of women (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal ) Act. 2013, an internal complaints committee has been constituted in the Institution.


Objectives:

The objectives of the Internal Complaint Committee to Prevent Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace are as follows:

  1. To develop a policy against sexual harassment of women at the Institute.
  2. To evolve a permanent mechanism for the prevention and redressal of sexual harassment cases and other acts of gender-based violence at the Institute.
  3. To ensure the implementation of the policy in letter and spirit through proper reporting of the complaints and their follow-up procedures.
  4. To uphold the commitment of the Institute to provide an environment free of gender-based discrimination.
  5. To create a secure physical and social environment to deter any act of sexual harassment.
  6. To promote a social and psychological environment to raise awareness on sexual harassment in its various forms.
  7. Prevent discrimination and sexual harassment, by promoting gender amity among students and employees;
  8. Deal with cases of discrimination and sexual harassment against women, in a time bound manner, aiming at ensuring support services to the victimized and termination of the harassment;
  9. Recommend appropriate punitive action against the guilty party to the Administration.

According to the Supreme Court guideline Sexual harassment can be defined as “unwelcome” sexually determined behavior (whether directly or by implication) as:

  • Physical contact and advances;
  • Demand or request for sexual favours;
  • Sexually coloured remarks;
  • Showing pornography; and
  • Other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature.

The following are also sexual harassment and is covered by the committee.

  • Eve teasing.
  • Unsavory remarks.
  • Jokes causing or likely to cause awkwardness or embarrassment.
  • Gender based insults or sexist remarks.
  • Unwelcome sexual overtones as over telephone and the like.
  • Touching or brushing as against any part of the body and the like.
  • Forcible physical touch or molestation.
  • Physical confinement against ones will or any other act likely to violate ones privacy.

Constitution of the Internal Committee

The committee shall/is consisting of following members, who shall be appointed by the Principal as under guidance of management. The committee constitute of namely:

  1. Principal
  2. HOD’s of all Departments
  3. A senior female Faculty member from the Institute, as the chair person
  4. Two senior Faculty members (one female and one male)
  5. Two Staff members (one female and one male from Group ‘B’ & ‘C’)
  6. One External female member (preferably lawyer by profession committed to the cause of women or familiar with issues related to sexual harassment)
  7. The term of each member shall be of two years
  8. The previous committee members will continue till the new committee is constituted at the end of two years term

GRIEVANCES REDRESSAL COMMITTEE 2019-20

Introduction:

K V G POLYTECHNIC , SULLIA has formed a Students' Grievance Redressal Committee.

The Grievance Redressal Cell will enquire the grievances and suggest the final action to be initiated at the institutional level for the redressal of the same. Any student may approach the committee members, if he/she has any grievance regarding academic and non-academic matters and the committee will take up necessary actions. .Anyone with a genuine grievance may approach the Grievance Redressal Committee members in person, grievances also may be sent in writing or may be sent through e-mail to the cordinator of Students' Grievance Redressal Committee or the Principal.The institution has a Grievance Reddressal mechanism linked to institution website.


Objectives:

The objective of the Grievance Redressal Commitee is to develop a responsive attitude among all the stakeholders in order to maintain a harmonious educational atmosphere in the institute. A Grievance Redressal Committee has been constituted for the redressal of the problems reported by the Students of the College with the following objectives:

  • To provide a support system for the students to address their grievances.
  • To initiate proactive measures to redress the grievances of the students.
  • To analyze the complaints and its merit and to take action with the appropriate authorities for redressal.
  • To get suggestions periodically from the students for improvement.
  • Upholding the dignity of the institution by ensuring free atmosphere in the institution through promoting Student-Student relationship and Student teacher relationship etc.
  • Advising Students of the institute to respect the right and dignity of one another and to maintain discipline and due respect towards staff members, developing moral ethics.
  • Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in and outside the institution. Any violation of ragging and disciplinary rules should be immediately brought to the notice of the Principal/anti ragging committee.

Responsibilities:


Scope:

  • The Committee deals with Grievances received in writing from the students about any of the following matters:-
  • Academic Matters: Related to timely issue of duplicate Mark-sheets, Transfer Certificates, Conduct Certificates or other examination related matters.
  • Financial Matters: Related to dues and payments for various items from library, hostels etc,

Disposal of Grievances

Respective Institute Grievance Redressal Committee’s members are responsible disposal of grievances. Members need to report to chairman of committee for every two months.


Procedure:

  2. On Front page Click on Register.
  3. After filling the essential data in registration , students/ stake holders may write up their grievances/suggestions in the editing box given
  4. It is also given a provision to attach documents related

II Through Letter/ E mail :

  1. The students may put up a grievance in a format given and submit it in person to any members or coordinator of the committee
  2. It may also be sent through email of head of the institution.
  3. The GRC will act upon those cases which have been forwarded along with the necessary documents. The GRC will take up only those matters which have not been solved by the different departments. Grievances related to fees etc will be taken up only if the relevant financial documents like demand drafts etc are attached. The Committee is requested to Contribute effectively to dispose the grievances at the earliest. A registry to register the compliant is established and kept in the Principal office under office superintendent. On receipt of the Compliant, the staff in-charge of the registry will submit the same to the coordinator of the “Grievance Redressal Committee”.
  4. The Committee will meet, with an information to the complainant on their day of Convenience. The related Student or Parent may appear in person to present his/her case. In the case, the complainant not satisfied with the decision of the Committee, they may send their appeals to higher authorities.

Exclusions:-

The Grievance Redressal Committee shall not entertain the following issues:

  • Decisions of the Executive Council, Academic Council, Board of studies and other Administrative or Academic Committees constituted by the institution.
  • Decisions with regard to award of scholarship, fee concessions, medals, etc.
  • Decisions made by the higher authorities /DTE or such with regard to disciplinary matters.
  • About Misconduct.
  • Decisions of the institution/board about admissions in any courses offered by the Institute. Decisions by competent authority on assessment and examination result.

INTRODUCTION

Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have been identified as the two most backward groups of Indian society, which have been declared as scheduled castes and scheduled tribes by the Constitution of India under the provisions of Article 341 and 342 of the Constitution of India. The Constitution of the country, promulgated in 1950, recognizes the scheduled castes and the scheduled tribes as the two most backward groups needing special protection.

The MHRD, University Grants Commission and AICTE have given priority to the downtrodden students and staff members and has given directions to all the universities/ institution to establish SC/ST/OBC Cell.

The KVG Polytechnic Sullia was established in the year 1984, as the foresight of Late Dr.Kurunji Venkatrama Gowda to meet the emerging need for trained technicians in various engineering discipline. The institution is affiliated to AICTE, NEW DELHI and Department of Technical Education, Bangalore. Karnataka.

Our institution established SC/ST cell in the academic year 2017-18, to assist the Scheduled caste and Scheduled Tribe communities in improving their academic performance and optimizing their development in their personal and social at the institute.



OBJECTIVES

  • To document the student admissions under SC/ST category.
  • To document the appointments of SC/ST faculty.
  • To circulate various schemes and other GOI orders related to the various aspects of education and other welfare schemes.
  • To bring the students belonging to SC/ST community in par with the main stream student body.
  • To create awareness, instill values and develop the personality and leadership quality in the students and staff members.
  • To conduct remedial/co-curricular coaching/ coaching for higher studies.
  • To organize seminars, workshops relating to SC/ST development.
  • To function as a grievance redressal cell for the grievances of SC/ST students and employees.
  • To develop the self-confidence of SC/ST students.


FUNCTIONS

  • To resolve the issues in the complaints, suggestions given by the students/faculty.

Procedure to File a Complaint

The SC/ST/OBC students and employees can approach the coordinator of the cell for redressal of any of their grievances regarding academic, administrative or social problems. The coordinator often meets the concerned students and staff to discuss their problems and takes necessary action and/or renders them necessary advice/help to resolve the matter.
