The architect of Modern Sullia, Dr Kurunji Venkatramana Gowda [ Born: December 26 , 1928 . Father: Kurunji Mahalinga Master and Mother: Lakshmi ] at Kanthamangala a rural village on the bank of River Payaswini..His early education was at Government Model Higher Primary School Sullia.
He was an innovative agriculturist and a true farmer , developed a greenery farm Amarashree .
Ms Janaki Venkatramana Gowda was the real spirit of all his achievements , since his marriage in the year of 1954 He was the driving force behind the formation of first telephone exchange , primary health centre, bus stand at Sullia. He was the key factor to form Sullia as a taluk
He established Academy Of Liberal Education in the year of 1967 to promote education to the under privileged society.
